The Salt Lake Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. At 253,015 square feet (23,505.9 m2), it is the biggest LDS temple by floor territory. Devoted in 1893, it is the 6th temple finished by the congregation, requiring 40 years to finish, and the fourth temple worked since the Mormon mass migration from Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1846.On April 19, 2019 the LDS Church reported that the temple will close on December 29, 2019 for redesigns that are foreseen to take around four years.
